Valley Medical Center provides a full range of elective, urgent and emergency procedures 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The main operating suite consists of 21 operating rooms—including two robot-assisted surgery suites—and is capable of handling all types of surgery; nearly 1000 surgeries are performed monthly. In addition, our Special Procedures Care Unit (SPCU) is designed for less complex procedures that do not require an overnight stay. Learn more about preparing for outpatient or inpatient surgery.

Surgical Services at Valley
Valley's General & Specialty Surgery Clinic surgeons are a part of the Breast Multidisciplinary Clinic (MDC) team. The MDC brings providers from different specialties together to collaborate with each patient to design a coordinated, comprehensive and personalized plan of care using nationally recognized best practice guidelines.

- Breast-conserving surgery "lumpectomy"
Cardiac Electrophysiology and Arrhythmia Service
The cardiac electrophysiology (EP) service at Valley provides care for people with electrical issues of the heart, such as irregular heartbeat, also called arrhythmia. While it’s not unusual to feel like your heart flutters, races, or skips a beat, some heart arrhythmias don’t cause problems, while others require treatment. At Valley we are proud to offer electrophysiology, allowing us to both diagnose and treat electrical issues of the heart in our state-of-the-art EP lab. Experienced physicians and staff use the latest techniques to diagnose and treat heart arrhythmias, such as atrial fibrillation, or A-fib. We use advanced 3D mapping and imaging technologies, helping get heartbeats back in sync through cardiac ablation, implantable devices such as pacemakers or implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), and other treatments.
Interventional Cardiology: Cardiac Catheterization
From evaluation to life-saving procedures, when patients need us most, we’re right here with state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization labs. Some types of heart disease improve with minimally invasive interventional procedures to open blocked vessels in the heart and restore blood flow. Common procedures include: angioplasty, cardiovascular stents and thrombus aspiration.

Colorectal surgeons treat benign and malignant conditions using minimally invasive and robotic techniques. These conditions include:
- Colon, Rectal and Anal Cancers
- Diverticulitis

The Spine Center brings together neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons who specialize in the treatment of upper back, lower back and neck injuries. One of the first groups in the Pacific Northwest to use vertebral disc replacement as an alternative to spinal fusion, our neurosurgeons are experienced in this advanced technique.
Spine surgery procedures performed include:
- Decompressive laminectomies for stenosis
- Laminectomies and discectomies for herniated discs
- Posterior and anterior cervical fusions for disc problems
- Single and multi-level disc replacement
- Instability or spinal cord compression
In addition, the Spine Center is one of the few medical centers in the Seattle area to offer cervical disc replacement as an alternative to spinal fusion. This procedure treats symptoms such as arm pain or weakness caused by degenerative disc disease in the neck, while preserving motion in the neck.
Urology Clinic physicians offer minimally invasive treatment options for both male and female patients and are specialists in endoscopic, laparoscopic and robotic surgery. They specialize in management of kidney stones, benign prostate surgery, treatment of urinary incontinence, and surgical treatment of prostate, bladder, and kidney tumors.
